Local residents win medals

Daniel Munez (right) and Gurjeet Bilku were both multiple medal winners at a recent Taekwon-Do competition in Ottawa.

Two members of the Estevan GTF Taekwon-Do Academy recently returned home after a successful showing at the Canadian-North American Taekwon-Do Championships in Ottawa..

Daniel Muniz, who is club's head instructor and fifth degree black belt,  and Gurjeet Bilkhu, a first degree black belt and assistant instructor, were both multiple medal winners at the champion-ships which were held October 18.

Muniz earned gold in patterns and sparring while Bilkhu won two silver medals and a bronze medals as well. One of his two silver came in the sparring competition.

Both athletes are members in good standing with the Saskchewan GTF Taekwon-Do Inc. under the direction of Washington Celis, a sixth degree black belt who is also head the instructor of the organization.

A total of 23 Saskatchewan club members attended the championships.
